Candle Care

How to use and care for your wood wick candle:

  • Your candle wick will be cut when you first receive it.  No additional wick clipping is required.
  • To light your candle, tilt your candle at a 45 degree angle and put the flame on the bottom corner of your wick, letting the flame travel up your wick and fully light.
  • You should use your candle for at least an hour per inch in diameter (3 hours for our 8oz concrete candles) and no more than one additional hour.  If you use your candle a little more or less, it's fine!  Our candles are not as fussy as 100% soy, you will not ruin your candle!
  • ***Important*** Before you use your candle again (when it is cool and hardened), pinch off the charred part of the wood wick that easily comes loose and remove all bits from the candle.  Some burnt wood will remain, that is just fine.  Then light your candle and enjoy!
  • If your candle smokes, there is still too much of the charred wood remaining.  Extinguish the candle, let it cool and use a wick clipper, nail clipper or channel cutter to cut/remove just a tiny a bit more of the charred wood.
  • Follow all safety instructions on your candle - including keeping your candle away from all flammable materials and out of reach of children and pets!
  • Your candle will self extinguish before all of the wax is gone.  This is a safety mechanism and is by design.
